LSVs and\/or golf cars on local streets<\/li>\n<li>Municipalities considering regulations that will allow the use of LSVs as taxis or rental vehicles<\/li>\n<li>Trends towards expansion or restriction, depending on the locality, regarding the use of UTVs and\/or mini-trucks on public streets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Illinois LSV Law\" href=\"http:\/\/www.car-seat.org\/showthread.php?t=108537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Illinois<\/a> &#8211; Effective January 2010 Illinois will allow low-speed vehicles on any road with a posted limit of 30 mph or lower, effective January 2010. Previously, individual communities had to adopt laws to permit the use of low-speed vehicles on local roads.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Orting, WA allows golf cars\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/news\/local\/story\/919320.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Orting, WA<\/a> &#8211; Passed an ordinance to allow golf cars on city streets as part of a one year pilot program.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Manhattan, KS Ordinance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kstatecollegian.com\/news\/mayor-looks-amend-state-traffic-laws-tonight-1.2028351\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Manhattan, KS<\/a> &#8211; Amendment allows citizens may operate golf carts and ???work-site utility vehicles??? on city streets marked with speed limits of 30 mph or less.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Austin LSV Taxis\" href=\"http:\/\/austin.bizjournals.com\/austin\/stories\/2009\/10\/26\/story3.html?b=1256529600%5E2310111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Austin, TX<\/a> &#8211; City officials considering legislation that would allow the use of LSVs as taxis in downtown area.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Mower County mini-truck ordinance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.austindailyherald.com\/news\/2009\/oct\/28\/mini-truck-ordinance-draft-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Austin, MN <\/a> &#8211; Responding to farmer requests, Mower County officials drafted an ordinance that allows the use of mini-trucks on county and township roads.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Ocean City allows LSV rentals\" href=\"http:\/\/latest.coolpage.biz\/?p=15772\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ocean City, NJ<\/a> &#8211; City council voted to allow local business to rent out LSVs.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wisconsin utility vehicle road use\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wisconsinagconnection.com\/story-state.php?Id=1332&amp;yr=2009\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Wisconsin<\/a> &#8211; Two representatives from the state legislature are sponsoring a bill to allow the use of light utility vehicles on some public roads for agricultural purposes.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"West Vancouver Canada OKs NEVs\" href=\"http:\/\/www2.canada.com\/northshorenews\/news\/story.html?id=ec411327-6d45-42ce-aa04-16e5a0fdb43a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">West Vancouver, CA<\/a> &#8211; City officials pass ordinance allowing NEVs to be used on roads with speed limits of 50 km\/hr or less.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Hamlin, WV UTV Ordinance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lincolnjournalinc.com\/default.asp?sourceid=&amp;smenu=1&amp;twindow=&amp;mad=&amp;sdetail=4217&amp;wpage=1&amp;skeyword=&amp;sidate=&amp;ccat=&amp;ccatm=&amp;restate=&amp;restatus=&amp;reoption=&amp;retype=&amp;repmin=&amp;repmax=&amp;rebed=&amp;rebath=&amp;subname=&amp;pform=&amp;sc=2186&amp;hn=lincolnjournalinc&amp;he=.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hamlin, West Virginia<\/a> &#8211; Town council approved the changes to the town&#8217;s ordinance dealing with ATVs, utility-terrain-vehicles (UTVs) and off-road motorcycles that specifically prohibits the operation of the vehicles on any streets.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Oregon helmet safety rule\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rhinoforums.net\/northwest-u-s\/37200-oregon-atv-rule-change.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Oregon<\/a> &#8211; Rule change requires that as of January 1, 2010 anyone under 18 years old riding in an off-highway vehicle such as a side by side will have to wear a helmet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some trends in this latest regulation roundup: Continued passage of ordinances allowing??
