Oregon lawmakers recently passed legislation that provides rebates for plug-in electric vehicles including low speed vehicles. The legislation calls for $12 million per year in rebate funding for the next six years. Plug-in EVs with a battery pack up to 10kWh will be eligible for a rebate from $750 to $1,500 and the rebate increases to $1,500 to $2,500 for battery packs over 10kWh. The exact rebate values will be set by Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. The rebate program become operative January 1, 2018.
Starting in 2019 low speed electric vehicles will be eligible for a rebate of $375 to $750. The rebate program will be funded by monies from the Zero Emission Incentive Fund which is separate from the state's general fund.
