Bolivar, MO A locally-owned business is growing up, and down. Pit Bull Powersports is transforming an old quarry in Polk County into an off-road adventure park.
"We are kind of doing something new. We are doing an off-road adventure park inside of this rock quarry," said Len Damouth, Owner of Pit Bull Powersports. This site north of Bolivar, which can be seen off Highway 13, sat vacant for years. Pit Bull Powersports showed up, purchasing the site and turning it into a new complex called The Rock.
Damouth explained, "Other riders are here. It is kind of a country boy redneck golf course type of a thing."
Inside the new building you'll a showroom; sales area; general store;and barber shop. Outside you'll find off;road trails; a small lake; concert space; and Airsoft course.
"Whether you are a powersports enthusiast or someone wanting to come and hang out, it is going to be a great place," stated Laramy Hankins, salesman and spokesperson for Pit Bull Powersports.
He added, "What used to be a farm tool is becoming everybody's favorite toy. All generations are getting involved in it. It is something that all generations can connect with.Customers can try out vehicles, or bring their own and pay to play.
"Here they can come in and see a Sea-Doo floating on the water; they can get on an ATV or side by side and ride through the park ," Damouth said.
Pit Bull's is maintaining its longtime Springfield presence, but moving to a much larger space than its current North Glenstone Ave. store.
The new location, set to open the first part of 2018, will be in the old Surplus City on West Sunshine St.
Damouth stated, "Springfield Missouri is definitely our home and is where we got our start. We love Springfield, Missouri."
The new Bolivar complex will have a grand opening this Saturday, October 7, and will include a cancer charity event for Riding For a Reason.
