Century-old marque Detroit Electric, founded in 1907 but dormant for seven decades, announced April 3 that it would be offering a two-seat electric sportscar based on the Lotus Elise chassis and body. The 200 hp "SP:01" EV would accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds and have a top speed of 155 mph. A 37 kWh lithion-ion battery will provide a range of 190 miles. The vehicle will be produced in a new production facility Wayne County, MI with a capacity for 2,500 vehicles/year. Anticipated price is $135,000
